Ferrari F2012 unveiled [video]

Ferrari have unveiled their challenger for the 2012 F1 season. It was revealed live on the internet after the Italian racing team canceled the live event due to the snowfall in the area. It is the 56th F1 car built by Ferrari, but time will tell whether they have managed to build a championship challenging model.

 

Ferrari designers have taken a similar approach to their McLaren counterparts, favoring evolution rather than revolution. The main changes highlighted include the front section of the chassis, the position of the exhaust pipes and the mapping for the electronic engine management.

 

The front wing has largely been carried over from last season's model with a few evolutionary changes, although we should expect even further modifcations when the first race kicks off. It is attached to the boxy front nose which even Ferrari has accepted as ugly. They state that their model's nose has a step in it that is not aesthetically pleasing but is required to abide by F1 regulations.

New 2012 Acura NSX will also make extensive use of lightweight materials, but it is not clear whether the Acura NSX 2012 will be a new all-aluminum body, as sported by the first generation cars. Like its predecessor, the Honda Acura NSX oaths in 2012 will not rely on the strength of the brutal, but combining light with high-tech for super performance and fuel economy.

If there was disappointment here, it is that Honda has held several important details about the 2012 Acura NSX specifications, including the power of the engine and electric motors will produce. But the team is based in the U.S. develop 2012 Acura NSX for production in Ohio have three years to get right.

2012 Ferrari FF

After teasing us for quite a while now, Ferrari has finally revealed the official details on their new successor for the 612 Scaglietti. Called the FF - an acronym for Ferrari Four (four seats and four-wheel drive), the new model is the company’s most powerful, versatile four-seater ever, as well as its first ever four-wheel drive car.

 

The concept car was designed by Pininfarina, and according to Ferrari "the new car represents not so much an evolution as a true revolution." The new model will deliver "unprecedented level an extremely sporty, high-performance character with incredible versatility, superb comfort and sophisticated elegance, guaranteeing both driver and passengers an absolutely unique driving experience."

 

The new Ferrari FF GT sports car concept made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show in March, and a production version will follow by 2012.

McLaren F1

The McLaren F1 is more than just a fast car. This is a car that has made its stable mark in automotive history. Blessed with some of the most impeccable engineering in its time, it is a watershed moment for the automotive industry.

History

It all started when a car designer by the name of Gordon Murray, the same guy who designed Formula 1 cars for both Brabham and McLaren. Its blueprint was quite simple: it is light, it is streamlined, and it incorporates a host of proprietary technologies that most supercar manufacturers took literally decades to match.

 

The first thing that you will notice about this car is that it is unconventionally designed. Possessing a unique 3 seater configuration, the driver is situated at the center of the interior, with 2 passenger seats flanked along the back of the driver. This configuration allows for maximum visibility. But there are modifications that has been done on this car.

 

It is no secret that one of the most time tested formulas in performance vehicles is to have high power and low weight. It is interesting how the McLaren F1 attained its low weight. For starters, this is the first production car to use a monocoque chassis made out of carbon fiber. In addition, other components of the car such as the body, interior, and all those other parts are made out of lightweight materials such as carbon fiber, titanium, and Kevlar just to name a few.

 

Getting its inspiration from the Honda NSX, they improved the ride quality of the car as to get the perfect balance between handling and comfort, performance and usability. And to top it off, it proves its excellence in safety during a crash while testing, and the test driver, rumored to be wearing just a shirt and shorts, left the crash unscathed.


Performance
On the engine department, Murray wanted a naturally aspirated engine that allows it to be more reliable and easy to manipulate. After going through some candidates, the McLaren team settled on a BMW-designed 6.0 liter V12 engine that weighs in at 266 kilograms and yet generates 627 horsepower. Having a powerful engine means producing a lot of heat on the engine compartment that may damage the carbon fiber parts. McLaren’s solution? They had the compartment plated by gold foil for insulation. Combined with the frame’s light frame, the power to weight ratio of the McLaren F1 can only be described as amazing: 550 horsepower per ton.

 

For a very long time, the McLaren F1 had been the world’s fastest car, and even now, it is still very difficult to beat. Zero to 62 mph comes at 3.2 seconds, zero to 100 miles per hour comes at 6.3 seconds, and a top speed of almost 248 mph are some of its performance numbers. But this car is more than just that. The McLaren F1 has set a standard in the sports car industry. Featuring many innovative techniques that had been way ahead of its time, it is one of the greatest cars ever built. Indeed, it lived up to Gordon Murray’s dream of building the ultimate road car.

Alfa Romeo Mito

The Alfa Romeo MiTo (known internally as the type 955) is a three door sporty supermini officially introduced on June 19, 2008, at Castello Sforzesco in Milan, with an international introduction at the British Motor Show in 2008. The car was available in all Alfa's major markets in stages from July. The three-door hatchback is front-wheel drive and will be sold to compete with the MINI and the newer Audi A1. Designed by Centro Stile Alfa Romeo, the design is believed to be inspired by the 8C Competizione. The MiTo is built on Fiat Small platform used on Fiat Grande Punto, also employed by the Opel/Vauxhall Corsa D. The new car was provisionally named the "Junior". In 2007, a European competition was launched in which the public had a chance to name the car. The winner from each country could win an Alfa Romeo Spider or an Alfa Romeo mountain bike. The winning name was "Furiosa", which scored well in Italy, France, UK and Germany but not in Spain. However, on March 14, 2008, Alfa Romeo announced officially that the name would instead be 'MiTo', an abbreviation of the cities Milano (Milan) and Torino (Turin), because it was designed in the former and was to be assembled in the latter; the name is also a play on the Italian word "mito," meaning "myth" or "legend." The car has a new "Alfa DNA" system which allows the driver to choose between three different driving settings: Dynamic, Normal, and All-Weather. This system controls the behavior of the engine, brakes, steering, suspension and gearbox. The MiTo also features LED tail lights and 250-litre (8.8 cu ft) of luggage space. The MiTo also features a Q2 electronic differential on the front wheels, which allows for faster and tighter cornering without loss of traction. The aggressiveness of the differential is linked to the DNA switch.

The GTA (Gran Turismo Alleggerita), the sportiest version of the MiTo was unveiled in March 2009 Geneva Motor Show as a prototype. This version has 1.75 litre turbocharged engine with direct fuel injection and variable valve timing both inlet and exhaust. The choice of engine size is very significant - the 1750 DOHC inline 4 engine was the largest engine available in Alfa Romeos for many years, and therefore an association certain to be prized by Alfisti. Therefore, this particular displacement is certain t o guarantee sales among enthusiasts. The maximum power is 240 PS (177 kW; 237 hp).The MiTo GTA has top speed of 250 kilometres per hour (155 mph) and acceleration from zero to 100 kilometres per hour (62 mph) in 5 seconds. The weight of the GTA has been reduced by using carbon-fiber for the tailgate spoiler as well as roof and mirror fairings. Aluminium is also used to reduce the weight. The Quadrifoglio Verde (English: green four-leaf clover) has traditionally been the highest line of Alfa Romeo models. The QV version has the new 1.4 litre 170 PS (125 kW; 168 hp) Multiair engine and newly engineered suspension, steering and new six-speed C635 gearbox developed by Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT). The new multiair technology allows fuel consumption of 6 litres per 100 kilometres (47 mpg-imp; 39 mpg-US) in EU combined driving and CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.[In 2010 Alfa Romeo announced it would produce a limited 100 car series of Mitos to be distributed to Maserati dealerships in Europe. A new transmission for the MiTo was unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, the six speed TCT is produced by Fiat Powertrain Technologies in Verrone. Magneti Marelli delivers the control system which integrates BorgWarner's hydraulic actuation module into its own power and transmission control units. It can handle torque inputs of up to 350 N·m (260 lb·ft)In Geneva was also unveiled Blue&Me–TomTom, this new system integrates TomTom navigation to the Blue&Me infotelematic system. At launch the MiTo will feature low-displacement turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. Also, a power limited 79 PS (58 kW; 78 hp) naturally aspirated engine variant is produced to meet the new Italian legislation for young people. MiTo got new electro-hydraulic valve control system Multiair engines from September 2009. MultiAir engines will increase power (up to 10%) and torque (up to 15%), as well as a considerable reduction in consumption levels (up to 10%) and CO2 emissions (up to 10%), of particulates (up to 40%) and NOx (up to 60%). This new engine is available with 105 PS (77 kW; 104 bhp) ,135 PS (99 kW; 133 bhp) and 170 PS (125 kW; 168 bhp) power ratings. All multiair versions have start-stop system as standard. In October 2009 was unveiled a dual fuel MiTo version, this version can run with LPG (Liquefied petroleum gas) or petrol, with this engine MiTo has range of 1,200 kilometres (750 mi). The LPG version is made colloboration with Landi Renzo. In Summer 2010 came available Dual Dry Clutch Transmission called Alfa TCT. From model year 2011 the start-stop system came as standard to all versions. Buick regal cars 2010 - 2011

Buick Regal GS concept that will debut next week at the Detroit Auto Show. The last Regal worth noting was the Regal T type, a toned down version of the Grand National with a turbocharged six cylinder under the hood. The Regal GS Concept is powered by a 2.0 Liter Ecotec turbo four with direct injection technology delivering a total of 255 HP and 295 lb-ft of torque, quite a bit more then before, mated to a six speed manual transmission sending power to an adaptive all wheel drive system. This means that the Regal GS is a sport sedan that can sprint from 0 to 60 MPH in under 6 seconds. All capped off with a set of exotic Brembo brake calipers. All together the Buick Regal GS is a perfect example of the American automaker’s commitment to high performance. the Buick Regal GS show car is a high-tech, high-performance version of the brand’s newest sport sedan. It was introduced at the 2010 North American International Auto Show.
It has a performance-oriented drivetrain, a lowered body and lower center of gravity. Regal GS comes from a high-output 2.0L Ecotec turbocharged engine with direct-injection technology. It is based on the engine that will be offered on Regal CXL models later this summer, but the engine and turbocharger are tuned to deliver greater boost pressure in the GS. The output is estimated at 255 horsepower (190 kW) and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (400 Nm).
